New convertible top installation tips

Getting ready to put on a new convertible top on my son's 1980 FI, and want to know if there are any "gotchas" or "wish I would have done it this way..." that might help smooth the installation.

You might want to do a search on top installation. There's all kinds of threads on the topic. If my memory serves me, wizard124 did a bit of a picture tutorial on his installation.

Do it on a warm day, and make sure you have the proper top for your frame. Check your old frame and do whatever you need to do to clean it up well before you want to fit the top, unless it is pristine. If you need new cables, get them.

I did mine with the help of a few stress calming drinks being my first time…
Just be sure the bow is rust free and only use the right glue…:)

When you remove the old top, take care to remove any rust and sand smooth the surface of the front bow. If you don't, any imperfections will be visible through the new top. Also, don't use any adhesive on this surface.
