Leaky heater valve plus AC removal

Post by 1983Pinin »

Hi friends
My 83 spider has the standard leaky heater valve syndrome-- turn heat on and you smell hot antifreeze
Plus a little wet on passenger side. This car also has a non-functioning AC unit I want to remove. I want to fix the valve plus remove the entire AC system.
Any parts needed other than a replacement heater valve and new heater hose.gaskets?
Thanks.

There are 2 heater valve styles. The original 124 type are not available. The current one is like the old 850 valves. This changes the tube geometry to the firewall. Most vendors offer the tubing along with the heater valve. Look closely at yours and compare it to what the vendors show on their website. If it is different, get the tubing as well. If you are still not sure, give Csaba or Ramzi a call at AR and they will fit you with what you need.

The current valve is the X1/9 and 124 sedan style, not 850.
This valve has been the only one available for over 15 years, so there is a chance the car already has a replacement valve.
