I am going to be installing the rubber trim on both doors. Any tips or tricks?

I am also looking for the rubber pieces that go on the back windows (on the chrome), mine have gone missing :?

Tip: rubber trim on door: at the cut fill hole with silicone glue or equivalent so that water doesnt permanently accumulate into the rubber channel.

Chrome piece can be gently pried up to get it off, then the rubber installed on the chrome. I would suggest a rubber mallet and a small block of wood to tap the chrome trim back on.

Here's a tip: I replaced all the rubber door trim like you're doing and I was still getting water leaking into the car during heavy rain. I finally figured out where it was coming from. Originally when these cars were built there was a sheet of plastic hanging in the interior of the door, draping down and covering the door access holes. You can see this if you take off the door liner. On my car and I expect a lot of other cars, this liner was removed to gain access to the window crank mechanisim and not replaced. What happens is rain water leaks down past the window seals, passes through the access holes and runs down between the metal door skin and the door liner, leaking into the car. It also warps the cardboard door liners. So I replaced the sheeting and no more leaks.

All of the holes in the doors also had caps or covers; some were taped over.

Lucky you! I never got plugs with mine. I fabricated them with blobs of glue. Just drop them into the holes.

It is rubber into rubber and sadly they do not drop/slide in  I pinched the ends and tried to put them as deep as they go (insert sex joke here  ). I may try to lube them and try again (insert 2nd sex joke here  )

Try hair spray.
The parts will slip together while the spray is wet and when it dries it will hold them in place.
