Re: hose size
Confirmed,
I brought new hoses last week and they were 5/8, be careful of the brass screw in the T junction - don't overtighten it. Also be careful on the metal water pipe running under the exhaust manifold to the rear of the water pump - it moves around during the process and opens the seal/gasket, have a new one ready, or gasket paper.
Regards

Re: hose size
that steel tube should not move around if the bracket is in place and properly installed at the center of the manifold. the tube should be mounted to the center stud for the exhaust manifold.
but, thanks for the heads up. I certainly don't know everything about my Fiat.

If Pope says it's 5/8" it's probably much much smallerpope wrote:No numbers on my hoses, but by measurement it looks to be 5/8".

Re: hose size
Mike's right Adrian (go figure ) I had to do a repair on my steel water tube while I was changing out the heater core and saw that a PO had cut off the bracket that mounts it to the exhaust manifold for rigidity. Your bracket (it's a simple ear that is welded on the pipe) may still be there, just not mounted to the manifold bolt. IAP has a new one for a reasonable price, I just haven't gotten around to that expense yet.

Re: hose size
Ron,
But Remember , my car is an ex-iLegend Turbo car - so it had a special manifold and brackets.....
When the LHD to RHD conversion (1994) was done (turbo removed) they used a '71 coupe manifold, and no brackets ! ! !
Hence my pipe is only supported by the nuts at the rear of the water pump.
Last week I ordered the correct used '81 manifold from Matthews Spares, that should fix the problem in the future.
Regards

You're right, I forgot. Thought we had another issue we frequently seem to share.
