Dern'd handy tool. A must have for Fiat maintenance

I replaced my noisey exhaust gasket today and ended up twisting off the several studs on the converter flange where it connects to the exhaust maifold.
PB Blaster, vise grips and MAPP torch were a no go.
I found some of these and they were great with the aid of an impact wrench.
I think I will be using these a lot looking at all the rusty fasteners I have inherited
Oh and I had to make some studs from some M8 1.2 x 50mm bolts.

As I was using the extractors, I rounded off 2 studs too much to get a good grip. So I grabbed the hammer and mushroomed the end of the broken studs. That gave me enough grip to finish the job.
If you are working with hardened studs and can't get them to bite, soften them up with the torch first.

i am sure this a finely designed tool, and that a tool of this design works well at removing stubborn bolts and studs.

Oh my! I know what I want for Mother's Day now! This little set will definitely be of help to me while I strip the 72 I have in the shop. The last inspection sticker on it is 6/86 so I can assume it's been sitting for at least 21 years. Now, what kind of tool will help remove rusted screws?

Denise, are you familiar with the "screw extractor" that Home Depot and Lowe's sells. We carpenters have to use them all the time to get screws out of rusty door hinges. It has two ends, one end rounds out the screw head, then you flip it around and the other has reverse threads that act like an EZ-out to get the screw . . uh, unscrewed. It goes in a drill, what we call a driver-drill. (Cordless of course)

No I haven't, Ron, but Lowe's is my home away from home, so I'll check it out next time I'm there. The worst screws are the little ones that hold the stainless trim down. I thought for sure, with this car sitting in the weather for years, I'd have a problem extracting the bolts to remove the front seats, but that was, by far, the easiest thing I've done!

They're in the tool dept., usually by where they have the screw driver bits for driver drills.
