Just wanna know if its needed or if you can just put a line in its place because i dont have one

you can by pass them but some people believe they still work after 30 years i tend to think they no longer
filter the vapors because anything with charcoal base as a filter tends to need replacing after a while so
my feelings on the canister its no longer effective . To answer your Q yes you can by pass it and the car
will run still .

the car will run without one, just plug the vacuum hose to it. But why not have one? It doesn't hurt performance in any way and absorbs fumes, helping to prevent global warming :P

I just bought a new one on Ebay for $.02 +5.00 shipping.I was going to bypass it ,but as Mark said..why bother if its not hurting performance.

They are wonderful - no gas stink when driving, stopping, or starting the car. They capture it. And absolutely no affect on performance since the air they let into the manifold is compensated for when you tune.

I have one on order and it should be comming in soon i was thinking about not buying one but if it only helps why not.
