I just fixed something and thought I'd pass it along in case anyone else with FI is a dummy like me. Let me explain.
I don't know how many times Mark has said "check the AFM flap for free movement" as the first step in diagnosing an FI problem. I did that. What I didn't do was check for full range of motion. I had taken the large hose off and reached in as far as I could to move the flap (about 1/4 of the range) and it moved freely. I was still having problems with smooth acceleration and idling. So, I pulled the top off and checked it out. There was oily soot about 1/2 the way up the air chamber, when the flap hit it, it snagged. When I cleaned it out, spray lubed it, and put it back together it ran like a new car!
I gotta pay more attention to you Mark. Thanks.
Ron

Re: FI fyi
I seem to remember that phrase when I was young; "How many times do I have to tell you?". I never did come up with the right answer
