I have a 2 liter 79 engine (in a 73 body) which I requilt 20 years ago - still running strong. I notice that I may be weeping oil between the head and block. Before I pull the head - I was wondering what the consensus is about retorquing the bolts on the head after 50,000 miles ----- My gut feeling is that I might wind up causing other problems and might be better off leaving alone until I pull the head and do a valve job -
On the same note I have noticed that when the engine is cold I seem to have a slight missfiring - this might be an indication of leaking valves?
Thoughts?
Thanks
Stan

Re: Retorque head
it should be no issue retorquing the head at any time. break 1 bolt loose at a time and retorque to 58 ftlbs. you dont have to follow any pattern or anything.
