Throttle linkage adventure...

Post by garion »

During the head and radiator adventure, I noticed something.. When i have gas pedal on the floor (car is not running), I'm only getting about 3/4 of the throttle open, and nothing in the second barrel.. When I'm going about 60mph, I have the car nearly floored.. I suspect adjusting this will be my biggest performance upgrade :)

Here's my linkage:

I have some play in the throttle cable when the gas pedal is up.. Where should I start? Tighten that up first?

this is going to seem wierd but, pull the throttle pedal up on the inside. pull it hard enough to bend the pedal upwards a little bit, then adjust the cable. this will give you more throttle travel. now before doing this adjust it first and see if there is enough room already, tou can shorten the rod which will give you more pull too

I just put a "S" bend in the rod.

I took the linkage off, cleaned up the threads (I'm so glad I bought a tap and die kit)... I ended up shortening both the cable and the rod.. They were at nearly full out... Spider is much more fun now! Though I have to take it easy with the shock towers in the shape they are..
