Watching LeMans on TV - Wish I Was There

Post by supplyguy »

Have been to LeMans four times, the first time in 1981 and the last in 2010. Right now it's about 4 or 5 am there, and the cars are screaming through the dark at almost the same speeds as they do in the day. I stayed up all night at the track, and about this time snuck through the woods and briars for an unauthorized visit to the Mulsanne Straight. Returned to the Dunlop tire bridge area for sunrise. Nothing like the sound of the Corvette V8's at dawn! Watching this on TV is making me already formulate how I'm going to explain to the wife how I need to be there next year!

lots of drama so far, with the Delta Wing car getting crashed out and the Toyota Hybrids also having trouble. Did you see the Davidson crash?

I did. Reminded me of the cars going airborne (90's?) on the Mulsanne Straight before they added the two chicanes. Checking my frequent flyer account balance and flights this week for next year!

I watched almost the entire SPEED coverage.I envy that you have been there.I have been to some big races, but LeMans is the biggest that has eluded me.I thought the coverage was pretty good, especially since they had no control over the feed.Greg Creamer, from SPEED,is my SCCA flagging partner at Road Atlanta.Good guy! Too bad about the Delta getting taken out.The Davidson wreck was spectacular, but should have never happened. The Ferrari driver moved right into him, didnt have a clue he was there!!
