I've had mine run with a (unknown) O2 sensor that was blown to bits, only discovered that when I changed it...

I ran autolite platinum for 2 years but now I am running Bosch. I will try to find someone that has one that I can try on my car. thanks for your help

While writing this I also had a thought,
Clean up you plugs, start the car and once idling, unplug the cold start injector and then drive around as see if you get the same problem.
Also
there in an article out there (I think it may be Brad's one) that has the electircal resistance levels of the AFM that can be checked with a multi meter, the other option is to check the flap has resaonable resistance and flows in and freely and then to possibly open up the black cap and have a look inside. Check the unit is sweeping the tracks properly and that the track is in tact.

thanks, this is good advice. I just came in from doing most of these things except the resistance at the afm which I will do tomorrow. I am getting very frustrated. I am still trying to find an afm to hook up and my new pressure regulator will be here tomorrow but I don't think the fuel pressure is the problem. I guess if all else fails I will have to find a reliable mechanic in the area.

Ok again

New plugs
New temp sensor
new fuel pressure regulator
injectors good
cold start valve good

still runs like crap

I hope to install a new/ used AFM soon.

I figure I now have many extra parts so might as well get another.

I took the car out for a very short drive but it still ran rich. It seemed ok at certain throttle positions but then right back to sputtering and backfiring.

Before buying or even sourcing a new or replacement AFM. Are there any other FI spider folks in the area? The best way to see if it is the AFM (an expensive part) is to hook up a know AFM that is functioning properly. if the car still runs like crap it is something else in the system. Only takes a few minutes to switch an AFM out and put a new one in.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

at this point i would be looking at the injectors. you said you replace the o-rings. did you ever have the injectors checked or serviced. There is a place here in Phoenix that rebuilt my injectors for $15 each. a couple of them had cracked tips.

I pulled the injectors to test for leakage and they didn't leak with fuel line under pressure. I had someone turn over the engine while I watched the spray patterns of the injectors on a sheet of brown of paper. They all sprayed a nice full consistant mist. I found an AMF at a good price so won't be out much if that doesn't work. Then, I will go to the next possibility. Thanks for the advice.
