Hi,
Starting to get the ducks rectilinear for the transmission replacement on my '78 which I anticipate for the first week of April.
Have a known transmission from an '80: How far off will the speedo be if I do nothing but swap external drive bit?
Here's the parts list I've got so far, what am I missing?
Pilot bearing
Flywheel (lightened, surfaced, balanced)
Clutch, pressure plate, bearing
Speedo drive gear, rear seal (really necessary?)
Speedo drive gasket
Shifter inner boot
Shifter bushings
Trans mount
Quibo
Am I missing anything big?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark, 1980 models came with either carb or fuel injection. Is your 1980 trans from a carbed car? In order for the fast idle system to work properly on your 1978 with the 32 ADFA carb, the trans must have the fast idle transmission switch and the gear engaged switch.
The most important component is GL-1 gear oil, 1.75 liters.

Thanks!
Carbed, yes. I'm dumping the ADFA for a DFEV before the trans swap (hopefully): What does that do to the equation?
...Oddly enough the Liqui-Moly GL-1 I ordered came labeled GL-4.
Thanks,
Mark

If you are installing a 32/36 DFEV, you won't need the fast idle system.
Napa sells GL-1 in a gallon for $15, (enough for 2 oil changes). I got a 32/36 carb for sale, check that forum section.

Thanks, I'd picked up the 32/36 DFEV before you listed your 32/36. Hoped to have it in by now but the winter garage isn't fuel system work friendly (the summer garage isn't either, but I had hoped).
Ciao,
Mark
