front window frame

Post by kolls »

I just got a front window frame for my 80 since the one that is on it is pitted really bad along the top and sides. so the question becomes is it as simple as taking the old one off and just putting the new one on without removing the glass. or am i missing something here or some pointers would be appreciated...

It would be best if you can do it without moving the bottom of the windshield, so the seal stays put. However, that is very hard to do, as the windshield gasket is rather attached to the frame after this many years. You'd likely need 3 people.

The other option is to remove everything, remove the gasket from the windshield, install the bottom of the gasket on the lip, making sure it is seated properly along the whole length, the set the w/s into it, work the gasket around the glass, then slide the frame down onto it.
