I need help, FI problem - I think

HI,

Car won't start !
Yesterday I decide to clean down the engine bay including removing the air box etc ... and the air intake hose/chamber ( this car got a large copper pipe as part of the setup - AFS to TPS ).
I sprayed the Throttle body with cleaner inside and out and removed a mountain of build up !
I was also trying (without success ) to remove the heater pipes to create a by-pass, it's hot in Sydney at the moment.
During the cleaning I discovered a green wiring with a baklite connection hanging loose at the rear of the block on the exhaust side. The baklite cracked up the minute I touched it !.
Now the car won't start, engine cranks, battery has 12.4 volts, ignition coil sparks against the block.
I working on the assumption that the green cable may go to the oxygen sensor ( lambda), however I can't locate the sensor anywhere on the exhaust manifold..... I must be going crazy ! ! !

Any help would be appreciated, and a photo of the sensor location !

The green wire does go to the lamda probe.It is located on pass side exaust manifold ans should be in plain view.For F.I. help go to http://www.artigue.com/fiat. He has a great online manual that covers everything and is really easy to understand. I printed the whole thing and keep it on my workbench! Good Luck Craig

Thanks for the info, It turns out I'm not stupid, the Lambda sensor was removed when the car was converted from LHD Turbo to RHD FI, so the new manifold does have the opening to accept the sensor !, another person has suggested the oxygen sensor input been hardwired to fool the ECU.

it sounds like the PO installed a resistor to use a fixed value for the O2 sensor. Your car will run fine without the lamda sensor. If you washed the engine, I'd take apart all of the FI connectors and dry them and insulate them with dielectric grease. I'd also open the dizzy and look for moisture there

'FiatNut' suggested I remove the spark plugs, clean them and reset, I did this and after a bit of cranking the engine kicked over and has been running ok since, however in runs very rich !! , I now suspect because of the oxygen sensor bypass !

the biggest factor in mixture is the temp sensor in the water outlet. On the Fiat FI the lamba sensor doesn't do much
