Fuel Return line needed?
Fuel Return line needed?
So I'm ordering new metal fuel lines to replace the rubber lines the po had ran under the car. The DFEV carb doesn't use the return line so do I even have to run a return line or can I just cap off the line at the fuel sending unit and just run a new supply line? Thanks for the advice?

You don't need a return line if you will run a DFEV. I actually ran stock carbs with blocked off return lines with no adverse effects. I think the reason to have it is to keep the fuel cooler by recirculating it to the tank.

I think it also makes life easier for the fuel pump, by reducing output pressure to essentially zero.

If you look at the return nipple on the carb you will see that on the inside it only has a tiny hole, so only a small amount of fuel is returned to the tank. Because of this the output pressure is not zero. If there was no pressure the fuel would not go into the carb bowl, it would just recirculate back to the tank.baltobernie wrote:I think it also makes life easier for the fuel pump, by reducing output pressure to essentially zero.
