Timing belt

Post by nibbes123 »

Just replaced the timing belt and bearing on my freshly rebuilt engine, but the belt seems to have alot of slack on the top between the cam pulleys and to side of auxiliary sprocket. Is this normal or how much slack should there be .Belt is a Flennor for a 2000cc DOHC .My engine is a 2000cc block with a 1800cc head but the cams and pullys are off a 2000cc .Someone please chime in on this .
Thanks

all the slack should be pulled up with the idler bearing. If you have slack between the 2 cams, they will adjust to take up the slack. rotate the motor over several times by hand and recheck the timing marks to make sure you are still ok.
