I have been trying to see if there was still a club in South Florida and ran across your site but still have not found a club down here yet.
I bought and restored a 78 Spider when I was 19 for my wife. I took the car nearly completely apart and tried to do the best job I could at making it right. She enjoyed the car for a few years until we sold it to help make the down payment on our 1st house. Man did I miss that little car.
Fast forward nearly twenty years later with a new wife and a new house and I still missed the Spider. Having had a few classic American muscle cars and a parade of motorcycles I was still missing that little Spider. So then started the Ebay and Craigslist searchs. Finally found the right car for the money and had a friend fly me across the state to buy it. The previous owner said he never sold a car at an airport before.
While driving it home for the much needed check out the donut started coming apart along with a few other little issues but she made it. Now I have been going through it and correcting the previous attempts at shade tree mechanics trial error to make it right. We have been having a great time with her. My ten year old daughter thinks it's the best car ever and wants to take it were ever we go.
