Heater Control Valve cable sheathing cracked?
Heater Control Valve cable sheathing cracked?
The plastic sheathing on the cable which opens and closes the heater valve is cracked and missing where the scew clamp secures it( heater control end) so it slides a little bit when the lever is pulled. Right now I have black tape and zip ties around it to try and give the clamp something to bite on. Is there any other fix I could do to get the sheath to stay in position so the cable is the only thing which will move? Or should I just get another cable?

You need the little clamp and screw that goes on the end of the heater valve. I think I have that piece.

Matt, actually I have the scew and clamp, its just the cable outer plastic is cracked so when I scew the clamp down it doesn't bite and the cable and the sheath slide.

Try a small worm screw type hose clamp over the whole thing.

I've had some success using heat-shrink plastic tube - as used on electrical connections. You can get some thick stuff that is similar in wall thickness to the vinyl used around the heater control cable. It gives the standard clamp something to hold onto.
