Fuel Line Replacement

Post by donerehart »

Hi Spider Owners. I'm working through replacements in my 76. My fuel lines in the trunk are looking bad and I'm having a lot of gas fumes back there. Can I replace the fuel lines in the trunk with standard autozone 5/16" fuel line?
Thanks once again for your help?

5/16" will work for the fuel supply line. The fuel return line is a bit smaller. You should replace ALL rubber sections of the supply, return, and vent lines.

I'm not familiar with the '76, but it may be similar to my '73. Three lines forward; 7/16" for supply and vent, 1/4" for return.

BTW, I'm in the process now of replacing all of my hard lines for brake and fuel using a copper-nickel product called Cunifer from Federal Hill Trading Co. The 3/16" stuff really bends easily, the 5/16, not so much. Will do a write-up once complete.
