Inner metal timing belt cover making noise?
Well, I finally got everything back together from doing my timing belt replacement,new water pump, crankshaft seal, timing belt tensioner bearing. I cranked the engine over yesterday and it sounds good and the car seems to idle better then before I did the replacement. My only concern is that there is this slight noise, like a sheee sound like a slight grind. It seems to be coming from the timing belt inner metal cover on the intake camshaft side. As when I press on the metal inner cover, the sound gets noticibly lower. I do remember that when I had removed the covers to degrease them during the belt change, I did notice that it had some grinding marks in some areas. I'm trying to see where it's contacting. Has this type of thing happened to any other members?

From what I hear from folks with the newer cars, they all take the inner covers off and leave them off.
But, I guess if you are going for originality, you'd need to put them back on.

those inner covers are a pain. If they're tweaked or missing any bolts, it's very hard to make them fit right. No harm done if they're disposed of

I knew I should have left them off! 
There still on, is their a way to get them off without removing the belt?

It's really annoying! Is there a way to cut them off or keep bending it until it breaks?
Another question I have is about the yellow plastic timing belt cover, should I put that back on or leave it off? I'm gonna cut it in half tomorrow anyway like the way other members have done so I can check the timing without having to drain the cooling system.

Figured out where the noise was coming from but not before I cut the upper intake side inner cover off thinking that was where the noise was coming from and just removed the exhaust side one. 
Well, it seems that the rear of the crankshaft was cutting into the bottom inner cover. My dad bent the cover back with a screw driver and the noise stopped. 
BTW, I cut the plastic timing belt cover in half, just gotta clean it some more and maybe paint it.
