Hi there.

My car is from 1981 (according to Swedish authorities) though the car is manufactured in dec -80. The car is a not in the best condition, what worries me the most is that the rear axle makes a lot of noise so I guess something has to be done to fix it, I´m just not sure where to start so I would be most grateful for any advice or other aspects you might care to share on the subject.

Hello and Welcome!
Sorry to hear of your rear axle misfortune. Have you ensured that the fluid level is near the top of the inspection/fill hole? Is the noise the same when under power and also while coasting?
Here in the States, we rarely repair rear diffs, because salvage entire axles are so cheap. Maybe some of your compatriots will chime in on repair possibilities. The good news is that the diffs are very robust, so any salvage (breaker) yard that has a Spider will probably have the axle intact. There are different ratios and a few other notable items, but that's for another post!
Hope you get her running right to enjoy the summer.

Welcome, (eller välkommen som vi säger i sverige)

Where are you located?
There are several spider owners in Sweden that might be able to help depending on location.

Are you sure that the noise is coming from the rear axle and not the gearbox?
