Engine Swap Question

Post by 97expedition »

I just purchased my very first Fiat. It is a 1981 Spider Pininfarina. Body is in great shape, interior is fair, but the engine has a hole in the block the size of a softball on the back drivers side. I am having a hard time locating a cheap 2.0l block to rebuild my engine with. So I was thinking about a v8 swap. I have heard about people running a 302 in these cars. Does anyone know what engine mounts I would use to accomplish this or if there is anything I need to watch out for? I plan on running a 302 mildly built engine mated to a T5 5speed trans. Hoping someone on here can help me get started in the right direction with this project.

As an owner of a V8 powered Fiat Spider my suggestion is don't do it. I first tried it as a bolt in , and the sheetmetal of the engine compartment won't take it. See my post under custom, what's underneath. Where are you located? Even though the car is a blast to drive with way too much horsepower, I wouldn't suggest it as viable project.

I appreciate the advise. I am located in Jackson, Michigan. I am really hoping to find a block I can use to rebuild the stock engine. Would like to keep everything fairly stock.
