I conquered a carburetor!

Post by SquareGrouper »

Here's my initial post: http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=9080

I had previously replaced the fuel line and drained the tank to get rid of any old fuel and bad line and was on to the carb issues. Found the rebuild kit at a local import shop so I went to town on the carb. Got it all cleaned and back together and she fired right up and sounded 90% better :D Chased down and repaired a couple vacuum leaks and she's purring now!

Decided then to tackle the fuel gauge issue, pulled the sending unit from the tank to find the ethanol demons had done their job  Meticulously cleaned the sending unti up and re-installed and Viola! we have 1/2 tank of fuel!

Wife is stoked and ready to roll to work a couple days a week with the top down. Mission accomplished. :D

Here's a few vids of the car running smooth!

what kind of vaccum leaks did u experienced? my 80 spider (carb) 34adf runs; but not smooth as it should; so I think. It starts right up; then the idle goes down and its gets better when it warms up; then it stays at 1000rpm or higher. any ideas. thanks
