Dwell Angle

Post by roanokeSpider »

I did a search on dwell angle and came up with two posts but neither provided information about what it is. I have a good understanding of my 76's timing and how to adjust it via distributor rotation. But I dont know what the dwell angle is or how it would be adjusted. Help on the subject would be great.

Here's a pretty good explanation of how your point/coil system works. It includes an explanation of dwell angle.

You will need a dwell meter. Usually you can find one at a local parts store that is a dual meter that can measure dwell and RPM/tach.

Dwell for the spider should be 55 deg.
