sagging driver's door
sagging driver's door
Is there any way to adjust Fiat Spider doors with the current hinge setup? I used to have a T-Bird and the driver door started sagging so bad I had to lift it up in order shut it, but was able to adjust it with an allen wrench.
Re: sagging driver's door
Yes, take the door panel off and you will see two sets of three allen bolts recessed at the hinges two outside top and bottom and two set inside the hole one top and one bottom. These adjust the forward and backwards along with the tilt up or down and have a lot of movement.. The hinges at the pillar is for in and out.
You really must check to see if any of the door hinge support area is cracked!!! My driver door top hinge had your symptom and it was cracked at the top hinge support. Both myself and Mike Bouse have posted articles on how to get it repaired. Mine includes a severe cracked mount and then I added a support. Both doors work great now and quite easy to adjust is you just think it through and have a helper and or a jack handy to support the door. Search hinge in this area for solutions and more help.

Re: sagging driver's door
I removed the driver door panel. I don't quite understand your instructions. Is it the upper or lower hinge that controls the up and down control. I've noticed that the door does seem to too low, but it also seems to hit the windshield frame when closing. I tried to adjust the windshield frame and didn't help a whole lot. Maybe a body shop would better understand.
Re: sagging driver's door
Both top and bottom hinges on the inner door control either or up and down, tilt and forward backwards. The hinge post hinges are for in and out. Cannot get any simpler than that!. If you are sagging it is possible you have a cracked hinger support on the door inners. Look for cracks or search

Anyone's got a working link, or is able to upload again?
My passenger sides door needs some looking after, as it's clamps a bit too much..
But the pdf isn't working anymore

Re: sagging driver's door
Nevermind, it's fixed
However, I might not be the last one looking for that PDF that's not working anymore, so maybe add it again with a new link, for future members who need it?
