What size diameter is the filler hole on the side of a 5 speed on my 76?

Someone will chime in... but if these are the same for all 5-speed, in my 81 and 83 the filler hole is 14mm recessed hex hole and drain hole is 12mm recessed hex hole.

The thread pitch and diameter of the plug is the same as the trans drain plug. Also the same as the oil drain plug. Also the same size as the rear diff drain and fill plugs. The only differences is what tool you need to remove it. Some have a 12mm recessed hex hole, while some can be removed with a wrench.

I ended up buying 5ft of 1/2 inch clear tubing and it is the best trick you could ever think of to fill that transmission and rearend with fresh oil. I was able to do both by my self in about 1 hour most of the time I was just waiting for the fluid to drain and filling since it was fairly cold in the garage. Not sure who originally suggested to do it this way but thanks for the idea. I now claim it as my own :? :lol:
