carb questions
carb questions
It seems like a good way to get extra performance out of the 124 is to get a better carb, or more of them. I have seen a lot of names and quantities tossed around, 34dgas, dual 40 idfs etc. what are the different carbs available for the 124 and what are their pros and cons? If I were to switch in a new one right now I would like to stick with the stock intake manifold. I think you guys call it a waffle. Thanks in advance!

1974 1800, although I'm swapping in a newer 1800. i think it's form a '77. So far no mods. I'm thinking about doing an electronic ignition conversion and maybe a better header. i live in Kentucky, so emissions rules don't have to be met, I can do what I want.carl55 wrote:Hi

Zmatt, do you live outside of Lexington, have a green spider, and also an MG with wire wheels? If that is you, you gave me a flowmaster muffler about a year ago.

Zmatt, that 34 DMSA and 1800 engine is already a spunky setup. If you can do away with the smog equipment and bump the timing a bit, you'll see a bit of a gain. I drove a friends 74 and was amazed at the power it had in stock form minus the smog crap.

Consider the smog equipment gone.
