Grind Auxiliary Shaft Lobe?
While I have the engine out and changing heads on this 2 litre (FI), should I grind off the auxiliary shaft lobe? I see a couple of threads where people have done this, to avoid potential future damage, but is there any downside to doing a crude grind? I guess the shaft is not balanced anyway (with that lobe on it), so I suppose that is not an issue, but is there any other downside? Thanks.

Cut it off completely and tap and plug the hole.should I grind off the auxiliary shaft lobe
No down side, shaft spins at 1/2 the crankspeed and diameter is so small balance is a non issue.

Re: Grind Auxiliary Shaft Lobe?
Hi Launie. I've done that with the 2L engines. Used a cut-off-wheel and then carefully drilled out the oil passage to fit the plug from the end of the lobe you just cut off. Tapped it in with a drift the same size as the inside of the plug.
