does anyone have a trick to getting the c-clip off that holds on the piston sleeve.
Thanks
the ups and downs of pistons
Re: the ups and downs of pistons
Those are buggers! Here's what worked for me:
First, I scooched the clip with a screwdriver to spin in so that the opening of the 'C' was opposite the slot that gives you access to dig under the clip. I took a stout nail, and ground down the point to a shape that I could wiggle into the slot and under the edge of the C-clip. Using a prying motion, I raised the clip enough to get a small flat head screw driver under the clip, between the wrist pin and the clip. Then, I rotated screw driver to lift the c-clip away from the wrist pin enough to get a larger screw drive in place, and worked at it this way until I got enought leverage between the c-clip and the wrist pin to lift it further and further away from the wrist pin until it popped free of the groove and went flying accross the garage. Wear I protection!
