okay kids, here is todays' guessing game. Tell me what the pic is and what caused it. I know the answer to it, so I'll be curious to hear the suggestions. Sorry the pic isn't a little better but it was taken in diminishing twilight.

Melted distributor cover... caused by a bad CDI box or coil?

Re: more guessing games
Definitely a distributor cap. But what caused it? Did a tube from the heat riser fall on it?

Re: more guessing games
good guesses, except for the stab at poor ol' Toyota. It's definitely a dist cap from an electronic distributor running a high output coil (about 40k volts max). The coil wire slipped out while the owner was driving, and the spark was strong enough to keep jumping the cap. The arcing kept eating away the contacts until the cap caught on fire. Once the fire melted the cap down onto the rotor the engine quit. It appears the spark was jumping about 2 inches at the end of the event. The owner reported he noticed just a slight hesitation when accelerating before the car died. Luckily, no other damage other then the cap, rotor and coil wire

Aww I did not get a chance to guess
Of course my guess would have been either0" It was Profesor Plum in the Kitchen with a Rope" or something to do with bigfoot.
