Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. Can't help you on the questions of engine swaps, my car came with the engine I wanted, so I've never been tempted to go through the job. Good idea not upsetting the moderator though, Mark is not a guy you want to upset!

Dave,

welcome to the site. plenty of help here, especially if you can ask the questions one at a time (multiple questions tend to confuse us... especially ME). then, pictures help too.

the barter system also works extremely well within the Fiat community. trade parts you dunn need for parts you do. many of us have project cars AND parts cars at the same time...willing to trade this for that.

talk to you soon.

Welcome,Dave That is a cool project you have undertaken.Did she have a Fiat in the past, that gave you the idea for the present? I think you'll find the Fiat community is really open to swaps of engines,etc...and not so tied to the idea of originallity.Put your best motor into your best chassis. You'll find plenty of help here with all your questions.Post a pic of the three when you can,and good luck.

Hey Dave! Looks like you have your hands full. What a lucky girl!
The 69 taillamps are very hard to find. You may also have luck finding parts at the Fiat vendors. Some of them or their employees have parts cars. The 70 model taillamps are the same as the 73-78.
We look forward to updates on your project, especially a pic of your girlfriend when she sees what you have done for her!
Good luck.

hello guys, I am Mike and have taken over Dave's project 69.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hi. Currently I orderd and just recieved all new brake hoses, (the others ruptured when i finally got the brake calipers to free up.) an will begin installing them 2nite. I got the engine running and timed pretty good. Just need to get some tires on it so i can start driving it once I am done with the brakes.

Now i am looking to see if anyone has a part available. On the boot that covers the conv. top when it is down are some attachment points. The front are plastic that hook on to the top itself. The rear are some metal ones that are sewn into the boot. does anyone have one of the rear ones available? I need the one that connects on to the right side. If you have a torn boot that has this part installed still I will accept it also if the price is right. Let me know. As I get to work I am sure I will need more items. I can swap other parts or labor if you need that. I am an Automotive techinicain. I specailize in Cummins diesels in dodge tucks.

Hi Mike, from out in the, at the moment, bleeding cold of BC.
Any pics of the project?
On another point, several here have asked about cleaning the injectors in the FI models. Does your place of work offer that service? If so let it be known
Several vendors, including IAP sell those parts you are looking for.

As a matter of fact we do offer a fuel injection cleaning service. You would have to call and ask about pricing however, i myself have my own way that i perform the task. Pretty much all an injection cleaning service is to run a fuel system concentrated cleaner through the fuel rail and injectors at a Psi slightly higher than the normal psi for the vehicle. The cleaner works as a solvent and breaks down the carbon that sticks to the injectors. the extra pressure that you provide helps to clean out the orifaces of the injectors to provide good atomization of the fuel via a nice pattern out the tip of the injector.

If anyone in my area would like I can do that for them cheaper than the dealer. The benefit of the shop is that they have a machine that comes with multiple fittings that fix multiple platforms of vehicles. I myself at home would have to come up with my own way to connect the system to the vehicle. It is not difficult as i could on occasion (secretively) if needed, borrow the correct adaptors from work.

Oh by the way the owner of my shop is one of the dealers that got chose to open a new Fiat Dealer here in the US. I am hoping that i can get to go to some of the factory training for them, (keeping my fingers crossed). I would love to learn the fiat diesels as i am primarily a diesel technician.
