Interference Engine Cutoff Year

I read a post that leads me to this question.

If and when did the engine change to a non-interference design for timing belt purposes? 1800 to 2000?

it was a running change in 1977. But be aware, the 2L shouldn't bend valves, but due to the longer stroke the crankshaft and aux shaft can contact each other. Effects from that can range from a bent aux shaft to a broken block
