Hello everyone. checking in looking to restore my recently purchased 1979 spider. I never imagined owning a fiat, but what can I say, I'm a sucker for an Italian classic. I have never restored a car in my life but I know my way around a wrench. Any tips for the new guy? I'll have a crummy cell phone picture up soon.

Edit: odd this forum doesn't have a dedicated pictures only section.

hey, Fonz. welcome to the site. yeah, every forum is different, this one too. posting pictures here is a rite-of-passage, or an initiation process. once you get it figgered out, it is your turn to share the secrets to the next newbie.

where are you and this '79 Spider located?

Tips? what issues are you having, and what modifications are you thinking of?
general maintenance advice...
when was the T-belt last changed? if you don't know, do it now for peace of mind. otherwise 30,000 miles or five years
guibo, when was it last changed? look for cracks or chunks missing...
coolant system? read up on how to properly purge the system of air pockets, else suffer overheating issues.

with help and determination, you can become a Spider maintenance expert. the right tools and patience is all that is required.

I know how to post pictures, I know my way around a computer, I'm only 20 years old. We are located In Rancho Bernardo CA
No issues with the car, she purrs and the last owner was a member of the forum, did the maintenance just before it was sold to me. She runs well but will soon run better once It gets a new engine. (holding off on that)
