'83 Spider package shelf dimensions

Post by bigwalt333 »

Hello! Are there any '83 or newer Spider owners who wouldn't mind giving away the dimensions of their carpeted lower package shelf ? I'd like to remove my Spiders rear seat and replace it with this unit, but since there are none available, at least in this world,I need the help of some lucky owner who has one. HELP!!! PLEASE!!! I already have the rear vertical piece,so any help would be appreciated! Photos would be great, also! Thanks, Tom Walters, West Michigan FLU

There must be someone with a later Spider that could take the bottom of the shelf out and trace it for another member.

Anyone, anyone? Beuhler, Beuhler?

Hi,

I no longer have the original package shelf in my '83 but I have a carpeted piece of plywood with speakers. The plywood measures 39 3/4 inches along the rear and 48 inches along the front.

I used small rectangular pieces of metal that I screwed into the bottom of the plywood along the back to go into the slots in the back wall. I also used some small pieces of wood along the front to make it level and used small rectangular pieces of metal to screw the front into the factory mounting holes. Everything is reversible and I didn't need to drill any holes.

I used black carpet from Pep Boys and it has held up well for over ten years. I may upgrade with leather that matches the tan back wall when I upgrade the speakers.

I hope this helps. I can send some pictures if you send me your e-mail address.

Thanks,

Jon

No Dimensions but I found nice pictures on the web of some one that converted their seat to a shelf.
