Hello to All and a special thanks to SoCal Mark for a few tips on my first engine exchange while I was waiting for my credentials to this forum. So, my story began in August of 2008 when I aquired a 79 Spider as payment on a debt. The car had thrown a rod through the block, as such it sat until May this year. I have never changed a motor out on any car before, thanks to Google, You tube and the members of this forum I can now be described as a full on Fiat Junkie. Since May, I have bought two more spiders. I have them all running well. I love the simplicity of the Fiat design.
To date:
68 Spider 850
75 Spider 1800
79 Spider 1800 running a rebuilt 1608
Now that I have all the electrical and mechanical issues under control, I will be looking for advice on Rust control and frame repairs. The 68 is beautiful and runs like a dream, but I am afraid of breaking the car in two whenever I hit a speed bump.
Thanks!
