Hi All,
Im looking at buying a 72 Fiat Spider. This Fiat Spider actually: http://appleton.craigslist.org/cto/1143338400.html
Any words of advice would be great, common problems with this year, things to look out for, availability of parts. The paint looks a little faded so as long as there are not a lot of mechanical things to worry about I would like to polich that up or have someone repaint it.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
C

Re: Hello from Wisconsin
faded paint would be expected.
my word of advice is that digital pictures are VERY misleading, and they do not/cannot or deceptively will not show the common areas of rust.
GO VISIT the car in person.

Hi C.
Welcome to the forum. Mike's given you good advice, it is always a good idea to visually inspect an older car before you buy it. Even more important in a car like our Spiders that are prone to rust due to the type of steel used in their production. Check the undercarriage (unibody frame), and at the shock towers. Too much rust in these areas will make it a major expense to remedy. Good luck, hope it's a winner.
