Hello from Tacoma WA

Post by Warpigs446 »

Hi all,
Just want to say hello, I bought a 1978 124 Spide about a year ago, it runs and has a pretty straight body, had som difficulty with the intake nipple for the fuel line into the carb, I was able to push it back it but I'm afraid it could come back out and sprai gas all over the engine causing a fire. Any suggestions for a fix other than replacing the carb?
thanks
Ed

Best bet is tapping and using a screw in nipple. Lock tight and tapping in might work.

Hi Ed, welcome to the forum. How are things up in Tacoma? I grew up around Seattle and used to go regularly to your town to visit relatives.
We'd love to see pics of your car.

Mike,
Everyone calls me Mr. Ed, :-) hahaha, working on the Spider, has a few leaks I'm trying to stop, going to clean the underside, change to oil pan gasket and filter, Trany gasket and differentiale gasket, then after refilling with fresh oil and GL-1 will use thread gasket on the plugs, hoping that will take care of any major leaks. Also, replacing the sway bar bushing and tie rods, bought the bushings from Vicks and the tie rod parts from IAP. This car was a Califorina car, it has a smog pump, but who ever owned the car previous disconnected all of the emmisions junk, question, the smog pump is just hanging out, can I take it off the engine without it causing any kind of problem, vibrations, etc? I love this car and want to get it restored, this winter I plan on redoing the interior, will post photos as I go.
Thanks for any and all help.

Craig,
I got the warpigs446 handle from the Air Force Reserve, I'm a memeber of a Cop unit, thus the war-military, pigs-cops, 446-unit identification. How do I post photos?
Thanks
Ed (warpigs446) :-)

I'm from Northeast Ohio, so I'm very accustomed to rain and grey! Of course, that is just in spring and fall. In summer we have hot and muggy and in winter cold and blizzards. Welcome to the site. Looking forward to some pix.
