Hey all I have a 1978 124 spider that my uncle bought new in 78. It ran strong till 85, stored till 90 ran for two years and put back into storage. The other day my wife and I were on the freeway going 70 when a Spider flew past us like we were sittin still. I comented to my wife that it was just like the one sitting under all the dust in the shop. She told me to get the little thing going again. So here we go. Does any one have some resources of local shops or clubs I could contact to help me out.

Welcome aboard! Does your wife have a sister? There are a lot of people on here from CA who should be able to help, not to mention the rest of us. Have fun - it's a great year!

Hey Greg, welcome to the forum. Seeing one drive by me was also the final motivating factor for me getting back into a Spider. There is a great group of enthusiasts in the Bay area: http://barf.mirafiori.com/ (BARF is Bay Area Running of the Fiats). There's a good shop in the Napa area (http://www.wcmotors.com/) I don't know how far they are from you though, there may be others closer.

Just put a battery in it about an hour ago. The little car started up like nothin. She spits and sputters but thats probalby the 10 year old gas. Now I got to drain the system and get it smoged.
