Stalling problem fixed...77 Spider

Post by John Donohue »

About a month ago, I posted several topics on a problem with my 77 spider stalling after it was driven then shut off. The problem always happened after driving the car about 5 to 10 miles, then shutting it down for 15 min to a half hour (ie a trip to the store). On the way home, the car would stall (tach to zero, no power), then come back on, off on etc. Sometimes I would be stuck for a half hour trying to get it to start.

Anyway, I tried a few things, such as a new ingition switch, coil, idle solenoid, etc. that were easy to fix. No luck. So, I bit the bullet and took it to the local foriegn car shop, and it turned out to be the ignition module. Had it replaced and that cured it. I thought it would be good to share this ending, in the event that others come up against the same issue. Thanks for the help. Tomorrow, the sun will be out, the car is washed and ready, and so am I to get back to driving my car. :P

The one ignition component you missed. Glad you finally got it back on the road.
