Newer member that never introduced himself.

Post by kuhndg »

Hi everyone...I joined a couple of months ago but failed to stop here and introduce myself. I have two cars, both 1980 FI. One for the most part is stock and in very nice condition and requires nothing more than Fix It Again Tony maintenance. The other is one that I have been working diligently on for the past four months restoring. This project has been a ton of fun and has made me realize the importance of a "hobby", or just plain taking time out of life and doing something that brings sanity. Living in Wisconsin I found resources for parts locally are both limited, and people with mechanical knowledge on these cars are few and far between. Sooo....I took what mechanical ability God gave me and decided I would try and do as much as I could on my own. Like most people starting out with little knowledge, I turned to EBAY for parts. It didn't take long to figure out that the people on this forum are one BIG happy family and will go out of their way to help a fellow Fiat owner. This was a big help when it came down to looking for parts, most the time not only could I find the parts I needed....I would get technical support if needed, it cost me a lot less, and I new I would receive a part that was in good condition. A huge resource we have is Mark Allison, EVERYONE if you need parts try Mark first!!!! Wow, This guy came through on both new and used parts everytime I called him, with very fair prices. :D To all of you that have helped me so far, thanks again! Everyone else, I look forward to the future.

Happy New Year all,

Bob

Oh yea, pictures...I was hoping I could post when the car was done, and the other was cleaned up.

It's good to meet you. If you're going to make us wait for the pictures, at least tell us what colors the cars are. Although, we do like to see before and after pics.

Ron, since you ask the question, I guess its okay to say RED  I have seen post in the past from other jealous owners wishing they had a red one :D The other one has yet t.b.d. I am working on a fenderless example similar to the one that graces the main page of this forum that I am hoping to have road worthy by late spring. I have an old set of pristine Espilon rims with the classic gold honeycomb centers that I have been kind of working around. My first choice is black, second being charcoal. I would love to hear from all of you with your opinions.

Red is way too common. Burgandy would look real cool with gold wheels.

Hey, wait a minute Denise. Who ever saw a burgandy Spider that looked good? Plus, I think instead of common, a better word would be popular.
Looking forward to your pics Bob.

welcome to the insane asylum. here in Winter Wonderland, we have long ago put our gallant steeds away for the winter..afraid of the dreaded SALT SPRAY MONSTER, commonly known as the County Road Commission Plow/Salt Truck.

However, just because it is winter and no driving is recommended, we still WORK on our cars in the garage. I have a long list of winter projects, and they ain't-fix-it-again tony's

look forward to seeing some pictures.

Ohhh! Denise's car is burgandy! Well I beg your pardon. Of course burgandy is gorgeous, the color did help her get "Best Looking Spider in America". I was confusing the color with puce.
Is it safe now to show up on the east coast?
