Seat belts in my '78
Does anybody have pictures of how the seat belts are intended to mount in my '78. This is driving me crazy

you're catching up on the italian cursing ? i'm sure someone has a picture but i 'll give you a clue , the front seatbels and the back (lap)seatbets all bolt in behind the smoking legless kids seat , the female parts from the front seatbelts you can bolt in on the lower backpart of the middle console , not really in the console but underneat it (in the metal)

Tappy with the way I have it now the kids can have legs and I am scrunched up in the front. The retractor is bolted to the outside wall behind the seat as of an hour ago and will be under the legless smoking kids seat in a few minutes! I can say Cannoli as good as the rest at least I do not have a bloody knuckle from this tiramisu.

Oh my, I retract any statments that I may have made about keeping up with the best or whatever. She has put me in my place, I only wish I understood any of what she was ranting about.
Re: Seat belts in my '78
are we talking about the stock belts? the belts with two retractors per?
one retractor bolts behind the rear seat upright. the other retractor bolts to the floor behind the driver seat.
there is a third mounting spot for a bracket that is on the inside of the rocker panel.
then, the female portion of the belt mounts to the transmission tunnel.

Mike thats correct. I spoke to Vicks this morning and they confirmed what you have. I was not able to find the bolt location for the retractor on the drivers side. I am looking for replacement belts now and Vicks does not have any and Tom at IAP says the ones they have will not work, he says they are always returned with the comment that they will not fit. I guess I will find the old bolt hole and put them in but I am really looking now for a replacement. I do not think I need a retractor for the lap belt. What do you think and do you know where I can get some good replacements?
Re: Seat belts in my '78
absodarnlutely.
i replaced those old stock belts because the retractors just would not work anymore. i used http://www.gotbelts.com
there, you should find a replacement that will work well. one retractor that will fit behind the rear seat upright. the other end will bolt well into the existing hole near the door opening. you will have to find some way to hide the hole left in the floor behind the seat.
the female end will bolt right to the existing mounting spot very well.
be sure you get a belt the correct length. I think you want at least 120 inches.
the only issue you may have is that the new belt recoil unit has only one mounting hole, and the Fiat part had two. if you are creative...you can make an adapter bracket (I did).

Bob,
Safety first. Always a good plan. There's always time to getta shifter later.
