Hi.
I am Mark
Hello Everyone...
I just bought my first Fiat, a 1977 124 1800 last week. It was restored and rebuilt by a mechanic from the Boston Area who sadly died in a motorcycle crash two years ago. It was sitting in his father's garage for the last two years before I bought it.
I had a mgb in high school and I have a porsche 814 until about six years ago. I don't understand why I didn't look at these cars when they are new. I really just discovered them two weeks ago. The 124 is already my favorite of the sports cars that I have owned.
The previous owner removed the back seat and put in a bench and had way too much audio gear installed. I already removed it and replaced the seat from Danny at F.I.A.T in Vernon CT.
My car seems to have some upgrades like electronic ignition, custom air filter setup. I am not sure it is the original engine either, I will look in to that a little later when I store it away for the winter. I am trying to enjoy the last few weeks before the weather here in New England forces me to put it away for the winter.
I am looking forward into attending some Fiat Events next year with the car....

Hi Mark
I'm another new guy named Mark that also has a 77 124. This is a great site with many friendly and helpful folks. Congratulations with the new car. I just picked mine up about 3 weeks ago. I had a 75 that I got rid of in 83 and have missed ever since.
Take care and Welcome!

Hi Mark, welcome to Spider ownership and the forum. What a shame you have to put it up for the winter. (This sentiment will make sense as the year progresses)
Great looking car!

Live free or die! Welcome Mark! One of the best things about Fiat ownership is the strong community of owners/enthusiasts, starting with this site. The events, as you mention, are also a key part of the fun. You should consider joining Fiat-Lancia Unlimited http://www.flu.org. The Northeast Chapter covers NH. The local chapters usually organize several events throughout the driving season with one big national event -- Fiat Freakout -- each year. The next Freakout will be held in Valley Forge, PA, in August 2009. That may seem like a bit of a drive for you, but we this year (Poconos, PA) we had folks drive from California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, N.C., Vermont, Canada, etc.
Until we get a chance to meet at an event, don't be a stranger and certainly don't be shy about posting questions. Congrats again on your purchase!

Thanks Mike.
I just ordered one of your short shifters today.... I can seem to get all the pieces in the right order to get the damn shifter to stay on.. so I give up and your short shifter should do the trick.
thanks
