PCV valve

Post by TulsaSpider »

Has anyone ever fabbed up a PCV valve for one of these? There is sorta one I suppose you have some suction there at the oil separator tube but it's just open to the atmosphere. I wonder which is greater. The volume of the air coming out of the oil seperator tube, or the suction from the tube coming out of the carb? Has anyone tried to put the vacuum tube in the oil tube then seal it up? Come on I know you've tried it, or at least thought about it!!

the volume of vacuum doesn't need to equal the crankcase pressure. It only has to lower the pressure enough to prevent too much pressure. The vacuum increases as the throttle opens if the carb is clean. There is a disc on the throttle shaft that increases the vacuum opening as the throttle opens. That disc operates as a pcv valve

Does anyone know where I can purchase the PCV valve disc that is on the carburetor throttle shaft? Nobody seems to have one

You could take the oil cap and oil filler kneck from the valve cover of an 850 spider and weld in place where the fiat124 oil cap hole is. That has a pcv tube in the oil filler kneck. If you really bent on doing it. your logic is sound enough.

To address the oil leak issue: The owner of a Alfa spider told me if your Italian car isn't smoking a little or leaking oil, you better check your oil.

I'm referencing the disc that Mark referred to a few posts up. It's inside the carburetor on the throttle shaft. The factory manual refers to it as a pcv valve. Mine is toast; totally melted. Anyone have one for sale? I need one for a 78.
