hello from Orcas Island
hello from Orcas Island
Hi I have been a member for a while but have not introduced myself. I have an 80 spider at least it is licenced as an 80 it is carburated not injected. Did they make carbed spiders in 80?
Re: hello from Orcas Island
In fact, the majority of 1980 Spiders were Carbbed versions (49 states worth). Only the California model was Fuel injected and in 1981 they all became F.I.
You are a majority not a minority. But you are the last of a dying breed, a dinosour if you will. An old horse put out to pasture. Crackled paint on a New England Cape Cod home.
Just kiddin,
Welcome and lets see some pics

Hello, and welcome (finally).
Pope is right, as usual, California set the trend. Fiat pretty much had to go to FI, by the time all the smog crap got added on to meet our emissions specs the poor car was pretty much a slug. I had a California '79, what a difference FI made out here.
I'm originally from Washington, when I was a kid, we used to go up to the San Juans to hunt rabbits. Beautiful country up there.

I never made it to Orcas Island but did a lot work on Lopez . Mostly back in 1982 and it was a job reverting a Barge into a fish tender and it was all the way to the other end of the Island from the Ferry Landing ..
You Get to see a lot of Military Planes fly over head I remember that.. welcome aboard ,,papa

Re: hello from Orcas Island
I can answer that Spiddy, I'm from Washington state originally and used to take the ferry up to "the San Juans" quite often.
Orcas Island is one of a group of islands in the Straight of Juan DeFuca, a body of water between British Columbia and Washington state. The San Juan Islands are a group of islands that are part of Washington state and Orcas is the 2nd largest of the group. They have very moderate weather and beautiful countryside there. Seattle, for instance in on Puget Sound and Puget Sound goes into the Straight of Juan DeFuca and then the Pacific Ocean.

Thanks for the geography lesson Ron. Sounds like a beautiful place. Being a poor and simple Brit, I have much of the US still to see
