Timing belt auxiliary shaft position
Looks like my auxialiary shaft is 180 degrees out of position. Am I going to have a problem with the lobe on the shaft hitting the crankshaft. I don't want to pull the dam belt off again.

Re: Timing belt auxiliary shaft position
On the two liter engine (1979 onward), the lobe on the end of the auxiliary shaft can contact the #2 connecting rod if not timed correctly. This can result in anything from mild damage to the rod, to major damage to the engine.
So, as much as a pain as it is, the aux. shaft pulley should be timed correctly.

PS: Not all engine sizes have this problem, but the 2L does.

Re: Timing belt auxiliary shaft position
Thanks. I went ahead and took the belt off and positioned the auxiliary shaft correctly.
