Compression test results.

Post by WadiaAbushanab »

I just did a compression test on my 1980 Spider 2000. It ranged from 150 to 180. That seems quite high though right? I mean what should they be?

The numbers seem OK to me other than I'd like the spread to be narrower, within 5-10 psig of each other.

A mild cam can make for higher numbers even when static CR is low.

Did you hold the throttle open when cranking?

Oh no I didn’t hold the throttle open. Was I supposed to? I just cranked it a few times till the needle on the gage stopped moving.

Yes, throttle needs to be open for the results to be meaningful and comparable. With the throttle open, the numbers will be higher.
