Greetings from NC

Post by 73Spider »

Greetings all. I am new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself and my new "project" :)

This is my 1973 Spider which is pretty solid on the outside and is now 100% mechanically sound (what a laundry list of items that needed to be addressed mechanically).

My interior is hurting and the floor pans will eventually be replaced. I have added an Ansa exhaust since these pictures were taken (these were the seller's pictures).

The good - Very clean and rust free exterior (minus the floor plans), all emblems (two are not on in the photos below but are now on), I have done everything necessary to make this car mechanically sound and all the electrics work (all lights, signals, horn, windshield wipers, gauges).

The bad - I need to replace the seats (have a nice set waiting), replace the carpet, replace the clock on the instrument panel, replace the door panels, cover/replace the center console, new radio for the hell of it, new rims for astethic purposes.

The ugly - exhaust was completely shot, driver's side floor panel has a bit of cancer and will eventually be replaced.

Look forward to learning from you guys and if anybody is in the area and wants to go out for a ride let me know.

I have not been following the path of the storms but I am a couple of hours inland from the shore line so should be fine. I think both will be a bit too far south to cause anything but the carryover rain.

I like the site so far. Lots of good info over here and the environment seems great.

Welcome fellow North Carolinian! Nice looking car...and an early model to boot. Where are you located? We have several events planned around the Winston-Salem area and would love for you to join us.

Hello, and welcome to the forum. You have a sweet ride there. It looks like it may be a very similar color to that just recently painted by member Baltobernie. Very nice.

73's rule!
Do you have the 1608 or the 1592 engine?
When I began searching for one I discovered that 1973 was a very low year for US 124 Spider imports.
Good to see another one and know it will be saved.
By the way, Welcome :D

Good grief man! We have a car club meeting on the second Tuesday of every month at the Winston Eatery. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays but they open it just for us. We've also got a car show at the Grandover in Greensboro the 1st weekend of October. The third weekend of October is the fall Moonshine Rally in Elkin and in November we have a tech session scheduled at my house in Walkertown to learn how to do a valve job. Of course, this is on an engine of my choice (since it's at my house  ) Email me at spyderlady71@yahoo.com if you'd like to join us.

I have a 1592 engine. This one will definately be saved. I plan on bringing it 100% back to its original glory.

Whew!

After seeing your post, I had to run over to the garage and check on Gina! Scary, man! Great looking car (but then, I guess I'm prejudiced)

Eerie to see your car in the hands of someone else, isn't it, Bernie? I know I have a hard time getting over it.

It must be a bummer Denise. Seems like everytime you turn around, there's another Spider identical to yours!
Mine maybe, not yours.
