New to the fiat world

Post by Stephen2583 »

How’s it going everyone!! The name is Stephen, and I just bought a 1976 fiat 124 spider. She needs a little bit of work and I’m still learning Italian cars so I’ll be on here often!!! Looking forward to conversing and learning from the experienced members of the group. My family and I currently live in South Carolina and enjoy cruising around the island. So I’m always looking for suggestions on places to drive to as well for scenic tours. I apologize in advance for the questions I’m going to be asking and greatly appreciate all responses.

Welcome Stephen! Ask any question you want, although if you ask about the best carburetor or electronic ignition or gear oil to use in your transmission, you may get more than one answer. Sometimes from the same person. :D

Anyway, we're a fun bunch and always ready to provide answers. Some of my advice may occasionally (accidentally??) be correct.

Thanks Bryan!! I look forward to learning and enjoying our fiat. I’m pretty mechanically inclined so I’m not intimidated at all, just learning. I’ll post some pictures later on of “Enzo” currently changing the alternator. I’ve ordered a 55amp Bosch core from Duralast. I wasn’t getting any power from the alternator to the battery and the charging system light under the tach was staying on so we’ll see how it goes.

Fair enough, and if Enzo's alternator replacement doesn't do the trick, start a separate post in the "Electrical" section of this forum and we'll go from there.

Welcome Stephen,
What part of SC are you in? I'm from Charleston but currently in Cincinnati. I get back down there fairly often. Man I really miss that place.
Anyway, I have a '76 also. You will find a wealth of knowledge on here from some very kind and patient people.
Good Luck,
Charlie
