Spider Azzurra 85.5

Post by Stelvio69 »

On the pininfarinaazzurra.com website it is mentioned that only 186 of the 85.5 models made it to the US. If that is correct, my car would have been no. 187 as my car's engine is clearly marked with the U.S.A. stamp shown in a photo on that website.
However, my car never made it to the US. It only got as far away from Italy as Bruxelles in Belgium where it was picked up by a buyer from Luxembourg. The first buyer kept the car in pristine condition and drove it very little and only on sunny days. In 2016 it came on to the market and I bought it sight unseen with 27.000 km on the clock. It was our 50th wedding anniversary gift and we drove the car without a hitch through Italy and finally to Hamburg to have it shipped back home to Australia.
It is a delightful car to drive and it is completely original, including carpets, seats and soft top. We had crowds surrounding the car in Italy every time we stopped for petrol (gas to you guys) and were offered the keys to a brand new 124 Fiat Abarth Spider which had just been collected from the dealership as a swop. We did not swop but kept our Pininfarina and reading on the website of pininfarinaazzurra.com we may have come off second best if the prices mentioned there are genuine market prices.
Out of interest: does anyone have an e-mail contact for the guy running the pininfarinaazzurra.com website. He want some photos but does not give any indication as to where to send these.
