I'm striking out on this one and asking for advice. Anyone know where I can get a set of the rubber gaskets that go between the body and the rear taillight assembly on a '69 Fiat 124 spider? I can find gaskets for other years, but not for 1969. And, if anyone knows a source for the "foam" gasket between the taillight assembly and the red lens for that same car, that would be great.
The rubber gaskets that I have are actually OK, but over time they have shrunk so that they no longer fit very well. If anyone has a trick to stretch them out a bit, that might work too.
Thanks, Bryan

I looked for some quite some time ago without any luck. Used black sealant instead.

Unobtanium!
A friend told me he used windshield washer hose. He sliced it down the middle and used a bit of silicone to hold it on.
Never tried it, but I guess it would be better than nothing.
Good luck

C Obert usually has been pretty good at providing unobtanium at reasonable prices. He does list tail light assemblies for the 67 to 69 models so even if he does not list the gaskets separately you may want to contact him.

I'm in the same boat. Tried heating the gaskets and stretching them but they shrank back. If I can figure out how to make them the right size, I will make a mold for them out of liquid rubber.

I was trying to beat a deadline and went the same route with the heating and stretching for my 78 and it took quite a bit of over stretching so they would shrink back to the correct size. Once I had them stretched I immediately put them on the housings and installed them while they were still pliable which worked out quite well. Be sure they are nice and clean as old paint, adhesive and such can add resistance and rebound making it much more difficult.urbom wrote:I'm in the same boat. Thanks for the tips! I'll try some of these and see where it leads me.
